Delta Airlines in their news hub announced a second Europe destination, where the passenger will be exempted from the mandatory quarantine in the Netherlands.
The airlines have collaboration with the government of Netherland and Atlanta and Amsterdam Schiphol airports on a COVID-19 testing program which allows the Delta/KLM passenger to exempt from mandatory quarantine after a negative test result is provided on arrival in the Netherlands.
Earlier airlines to fight against COVID-19 has installed the sanitizer in their flights for safety purpose.
Delta airlines have recently started taking travelers’ detail for contact tracing with their flight passengers.
Starting from 15th December. Delta Air Lines and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines are launching COVID-tested flights from Atlanta to Amsterdam. They will be operating weekly four flights from Atlanta to Amsterdam. The airlines will be allowing passengers on board who hold negative test results. The airlines further informed the flights will initially run for three weeks and, if successful, the airlines hope to extend the program to other markets.
Pieter Elbers, President & CEO KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, said, “This is a very important and great step forward. Until an approved working vaccine is available worldwide, this testing program represents the first step towards the international travel industry’s recovery. I am grateful for the constructive collaboration with our partners Delta Air Lines and the Schiphol Group and to have the support of the Dutch government to make this unique COVID- free travel corridor trial possible.
The European Union countries have put passengers traveling from the USA on the red list and are under a travel ban. Any passenger flying from the USA to the Netherlands should stay for 10 days with mandatory quarantine on arrival.
As per the airlines, customers are able to purchase the COVID-tested flights when they purchase their tickets online which has to be done 5 days before the flight. or the passenger can opt for an alternative to purchasing Delta or KLM daily flights between Atlanta and Amsterdam which are not covered within the trial program.
Passenger can fly on Delta and KLM’s COVID-tested flights from Atlanta to Amsterdam, where passenger will need to:
Take a COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test 5 days before arrival in Amsterdam.
Take a PCR test, upon arrival at Schiphol airport
Take a rapid antigen test prior to the board flight at the Atlanta airport
