
The Swiss Federal Railways SBB has announced that the cross-border railway services between Switzerland and Italy are suspended begins Thursday 10th December until further notice.
Earlier in November, the Eu Countries, Switzerland, Italy, Germany and France had reduced train service. However, the number of COVId-19 cases has been hitting high with the 2nd wave of the virus.
The decision was taken as the train personnel does not have the capacity to carry out COVID-19 safety checks ordered by the Italian government.
With the decision comes into effect, many trains have been affected with the cancellations into Italy and Germany. Due to the halt of the train, many passengers with long-distance trains between Milan and Frankfurt are affected. Also, the daily worker’s travelers between the borders of Italy and Switzerland have been affected.
Italy has been taking necessary measures on taking precautions to curb against the Covid. Taking passengers’ temperatures before boarding the train, Limiting the number of the capacity of train personnel.
“Swiss Federal Railways trains will travel only to the country’s border to Italy,” SBB said.
