The American carrier Delta Airlines announced that they will be taking the details on traveler’s data to assist in contact tracing efforts. Any passenger traveling to the USA from the international border will need to provide information to airlines begins on the 15th of December.

The full name, address in the United States, contact telephone number, and email address are required to submit. All U.S. residents and visitors arriving in the United States will be asked to provide the data voluntarily.

All data collected by the airlines will be given to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to identify passengers who were sitting by the infected passenger. Hence the CDC will provide the traveler’s contact information to the relevant local health department.

Currently, Delta airlines are providing their passenger manifest to CDC. With the process of taking the passenger data, Delta airlines say that it will speed up the process of getting in touch with that passenger.
