United Airlines on 30th August announced that they are cutting off all the flight ticket changes fees. This announcement allows the passenger to change the ticket to any dates in all standard Economy and Premium cabin tickets for travel within the US, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands, effective immediately.
United Airlines also confirmed that cutting off the changes fees will allow customers free to change their flights for as many times as they want. With the beginning of 1st January 2021, customers can even stay on standby in the airport on the same day and can change their ticket free take flight if the seats are available.
“Change is inevitable these days – but it’s how we respond to it that matters most. When we hear from customers about where we can improve, getting rid of this fee is often the top request.” The CEO of United AirlinesScott Kirby Said in the statement. Further added, “Following previous tough times, airlines made difficult decisions to survive, sometimes at the expense of customer service. United Airlines won’t be following that same playbook as we come out of this crisis. Instead, we’re taking a completely different approach – and looking at new ways to serve our customers better.”
With this approach by UA, the American airlines and Delta Airlines also changed their changes fee policy on 31st August 2020.
American Airlines eliminate all the change fees for the ticket purchased for First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy, and Main Cabin. However basic economy tickets for all domestic and short-haul international flying are still chargeable.
The AA flights to all US states, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean will avail the facility to change the ticket for free. From 1st October 2020, the passenger can able to sit on standby and can change their flight free and fly in case of seats available.
Delta Airlines has also cut off the change fees for all domestic US routes along with Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands. All tickets purchased on Delta’s First Class, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort, and Main Cabin tickets can avail the free to change. However basic economy tickets remain the exception.
Qatar Airways is the first airline in the middle east, with greater flexibility in terms of flight changes due to the effects of coronavirus. Qatar Airways has been providing free date changes without any penalty to any destinations since the International flight was affected due to Covid-19 since March 2020.
Most airlines have introduced different flexibility program for the changes of the flights affected due to the Corona Virus.
