The second new cruise ship for Saga Cruises was delivered in Emden by German shipbuilder Meyer Werft to Saga Cruises on 30th Sept 2020. The new cruise ship named “The Spirit of Adventure” with a capacity of 999 guests is expected to cruise in 2021. There is a total of 554 balcony cabin on this cruise ship.
Thomas Weigend, managing director of Meyer Werft said, “Despite all the adversities in the last few months caused by the corona pandemic, we were able to complete both the construction in Papenburg and the testing and commissioning of the ship within a manageable time frame.”
” This is mainly due to the good partnership with Saga Cruises, our partners and the commitment of our teams, who completed the ship with dedication and know-how,”
Nigel Blanks, managing director of Saga said “This year, we have all faced unprecedented challenges as a result of the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic,” said, in a letter sent to guests.” Further added, “Though the inaugural cruise will take place a little later than we had originally planned due to the ongoing restrictions on travel, we cannot wait to welcome guests on board and see all she has to offer.”
