The Dutch Airlines Lufthansa is planning to start rapid COVID-19 antigen tests for their passenger traveling from the USA and Canada from October. The airlines said they are planning to open test centres at airports in the United States and Canada.
Emirates airlines with Dubai International Airport has been offering rapid tests to all the passengers traveling to Dubai Via Emirates airlines since April 2020. Also, United Airlines had earlier this week announced that they will be opening their Rapid test center in the airport for traveling from San Francisco airport.
The rapid antigen tests give results within 15 minutes and is a very effective way to find the status of the passenger then using the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test, which generally takes almost 24 hours to get the report from the lab.
Due to the travel advisories issued by different countires, there has been an impacted on air travel. The airlines and airports globally have urged countries to accept a passenger’s negative COVID-19 test as an alternative to travel restrictions and quarantines that have restricted the demand for travel.
