Boeing Company has grounded eight of thousand manufactured 787 Dreamliner planes finding some technical problems in it. Those planes have been using in three different airlines.
The Grounded planes will undergo inspections and will be repaired. Boeing Co has been selling their 787 Dreamliners to 69 different airline companies since 2012.
“Boeing has identified two distinct manufacturing issues in the join of certain 787 affbody fuselage sections, which, in combination, result in a condition that does not meet our design standards,” Boeing said in a statement.
Those grounded flights belong to United Airlines, Air Canada and Singapore Airlines. Spokespeople for United and Singapore confirmed that each airline had one of the eight affected planes in its fleet. Both airlines said the affected planes were not in service when the problem was discovered.
Earlier March 2019, Boeing had grounded their 737 Max planes following two fatal crashes that killed 346 people. It is still awaiting approval for that plane to fly again. The Redesign 737 Max had been in a test flight on July 2020 and is now waiting for approval from the Federal Aviation Administration to start flying again.
The Federal Aviation Administration says it is aware of the problem with the 787 and “continues to engage with Boeing,” However FAA did not say whether they plan to issue a safety bulletin to operators about the issue.
Boeing has announced it would slow production of the Dreamliner as a result of the pandemic and said it is considering closing one of the two plants that build the plane to consolidate operations and cut costs
