The North American Caribbean Antigua Island has opened its door for the visitors from 2nd August. With the start of summer vacations, British airways make their very first to Antigua since the pandemic. the first flight from the UK Gatwick airport to the Caribbean island had arrived on full seated. Tourists could be on the beach within 70 minutes of landing, the head of its tourist board has said.
Colin James, CEO of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, said the island has had since the beginning of June to finely tune its arrival screening process – it was one of the first countries in the region to reopen its borders – and that the “long waiting times” warned by the UK Foreign Office should not materialize.
All visitors to the Island are required to provide the Corona Virus negative test report taken no more than seven days before the flight departure. However, the screening will be done at the airport and some passengers may be required for additional testing. All travelers should adhere to mandatory wearing of face masks in public places, a curfew between 11 pm until 5 am, and restrictions on parties and social gatherings. But James said the island has retained its relaxed way of life.
Antigua and Barbuda are one of the hot tourist destinations for summer. Almost 60 percent of the revenue of Island are generated by Tourism.
The Island has currently 31 active cases of Covid-19 with total of 91 cases and 3 deaths in total until today date.
