The A3 near Guildford was closed in both directions due to a serious crash.
The incident on Thursday (April 8) is causing long delays after it was reported just after 3pm, as emergency services rushed to the scene.
Traffic news service INRIX said: “A3 in both directions blocked, stationary traffic due to overturned van from A320 Woking Road (Stoke Crossroads) to A3100 (Burpham). Congestion to the Cathedral turn-off on the northbound side.
“A van travelling north has overturned and gone through the barriers on to the southbound side. Camera images can’t see the incident, but no traffic is getting through and queues are building up. Emergency vehicles have been spotted heading to the scene.”
Surrey Police confirmed that the road was closed due an incident involving a van and another vehicle. One of the drivers suffered serious injuries and has been taken to hospital by ambulance.
